Give your pupils the opportunity and support to understand the prisons past or present
Very few people get the opportunity to experience a real 17th-century prison. Running school trips like these shines a light on the history of prison life and offers an insight into an otherwise unknown world.
We understand that finding the perfect environment for your students is paramount, our tour guides are experienced and confident. Shepton Mallet Prison is 20% accessible for wheelchair students. Guided Tours form the basis of all school trips; additional activities can be added to suit pupils learning requirements.
The experience starts in Visits, takes in the wings, the cells, including the segregation units, exercise yards, treadwheel building and the execution room. The experience is around an hour and half.
Choosing from a range of topics your students will then get the opportunity to ask as many questions as they like and have topical discussions with highly knowledgeable tour guides. The guide’s experience is invaluable and offers a true insight into life behind bars.
