Museum

Showcasing four hundred years of prison life at the prison museum. You can also see authentic items which belonged to officers and prisoners, as well as displays on the historic market town. A true piece of crime and punishment history.

Cafe

We have an on-site cafe, offering a selection of hot and cold drinks & snacks. Take a rest from a day exploring, enjoy coffee and cake, or a light bite with the family. Talk to to the team during your visit to find out what's available.

History

Shepton Mallet Prison has resided on its current site since 1625. The building was influenced by prison reformer, John Howard, but there's so much more to learn about the prison's history.

Accessibility
