Discover Art Behind Bars at Shepton Mallet Prison
We’re thrilled to welcome back Art Behind Bars from the 1st May at Shepton Mallet Prison, presented in partnership with the respected charity Alabaré. This annual exhibition celebrates the creativity of offenders across the country while supporting their rehabilitation through the therapeutic benefits of art.

About the Exhibition
Running until 31st May, this powerful showcase features 150–200 pieces of artwork created by prisoners as part of the Alabaré Burnbake Prison Art Project. Alabaré provides the materials, manages the sale of the artwork, and ensures that 50% of each sale goes back to the artist and 50% supports Alabaré Artworks.
This exhibition gives visitors a fresh perspective on the prison, highlighting the positive impact of art and offering a meaningful reason to visit – whether to enjoy the exhibition, explore the prison grounds, or relax in the café.
